Thermal-Fluid Analysis of a Domestic Oven

SmartCAE carried out a CFD-based thermo-fluid analysis of domestic ovens.
The problem

The aim of the project was to develop a CFD model of a fan-assisted domestic oven capable of accurately predicting the internal hot air flow distribution and the temperature distribution on the food during cooking. The model was validated against experimental measurements obtained using thermocouples.

The challenge

SmartCAE carried out a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study of a domestic oven to analyze its thermal and fluid dynamic behavior during operation.

Our contribution

Based on the simulation results, several design modifications were investigated for both the oven’s rear panel and the fan geometry to achieve a more uniform distribution of hot air inside the cooking cavity. The proposed solutions were developed while complying with the geometric constraints specified by the customer.

Benefits for the client

Experimental testing confirmed that the proposed design modifications significantly improved cooking uniformity, resulting in a more homogeneous temperature distribution and better overall cooking performance.
