GLview Pro

GLview Pro can run on almost any hardware, ranging from PC laptop computers to high-end workstations on Unix, Linux, and Windows. The program is very user friendly and suitable for a number of tasks:

Visualization and post-processing

GLview Pro is developed with a strong focus on visualization of dynamic/transient results. The program can run time/frequency domain and mode shape animations. You can load a results database containing a geometry, scalar, and vector results and rotate, zoom, and translate the geometry interactively. Image plots of the graphics scene or the 2D plot window can be stored to various standard formats.

Verification and result inspection

By using the Info Window and other dialogs, you can easily convey your results by using the mouse, clicking on elements and verify the output values. Due to the powerful animation capabilities, it is easy to do an initial check to verify that the results look sensible and meet your expectations.

Interactive animation and presentation

If an animation has been loaded, the user can change display attributes, rotate, and zoom the model while the animation is running. GLview Pro utilizes OpenGL and offers high performance graphics, especially if an OpenGL hardware accelerator is present. GLview Pro is ideal for performing customer and client presentations, either "live" on site or by generating MPEG, AVI, Animated GIF sequences, or HTML pages. Furthermore, by exporting the current animation to a VTF file, this file may be distributed along with the free companions GLview Express or GLview 3D Plug-in. This enables clients (or yourself) to run a predefined set of interactive animations on a Windows PC without having GLview Pro installed (the concept is similar to the Adobe Reader philosophy), or run full 3D visualization in a web browser or PowerPoint.

Support for commercial FEA applications

GLview Pro reads results databases from ABAQUS, ANSYS, FEMAP, I-DEAS, LS-DYNA, MSC.MARC, MSC.NASTRAN, and RADIOSS without doing any file conversion. You simply open the results file in GLview Pro, select the desired scalar/vector data, load the animation, and you are up and running.

Integration with in-house codes

You can easily use GLview Pro to post-process your own FEA data. The easiest way is to write your own FEA data to the generic VTF file format.

Multi-platform environment

GLview Pro is available on most hardware platforms and runs on all Win32, Unix and Linux platforms. GLview on Windows can read results databases generated on Unix or Linux machines - and vice versa).

Target Group

GLview Pro can be utilized as a stand-alone application or integrated as a graphics window to other applications. The software has built-in support for the most frequently used image FEA file formats. High interactive animation and 3D visualization makes it easy to generate complete reports and presentations. GLview Pro is designed for engineers who have the need for visualization and animation of results from Finite Element Analysis and require a program which provides high performance graphics, supports FEA codes, and handles extremely large models. GLview Pro is used within several disciplines. The software supports a wide range of applications within the following fields:

  • Structural analysis
  • Car crash analysis
  • Material forming
  • Oil basin modeling
  • Marine hydrodynamics
  • Explosion simulation
